We love Gramen Farm

We are so excited to tell you about a raw, organic dairy near us in Cypress called Gramen Farm.  Gramen Farm is a family owned dairy, and it is the only place we buy milk products, including yogurt, kefir, and fresh cheeses.  Not only does this family sell us the healthiest milk possible, they also raise and sell organic, pastured beef, pork, and chicken.  Oh, and eggs too!  Oh, and naturally made cosmetics like handmade soaps, lotions, deoderants, and bath salts.

Check out their website: www.GramenFarm.com

When my cousin first told me about this place, I thought it was too good to be true - a certified raw dairy?  10 min from my house in NW Houston?  Wow... I had to check it out myself.

As I drove through the rural area, looking for the farm, I turned onto the little road and admired the simplicity and honesty of the place.  The dairy goats and cows in the pasture raised their head in a "howdy" sort of nod-greeting.  The storefront is in a humble white building with a small, nondescript, one-word sign over the door, "dairy".  As I walked in, the owner, Grant, greeted me at the door, told me about their products, and offered me a tour.  I was thrilled!  In subsequent visits, I met his wife, Ellie, who was equally as enthusiastic about their endeavors.

When was the last time your grocer explained, exactly and expertly, how your food was raised?  When was the last time a grocery clerk discussed health benefits of the products they sell?  When was the last time you were offered a tour of where your food was processed and packaged?  ...um, never at a grocery store where we purchase most of our food and cosmetics.

Gramen Farm is a company I can believe in with my whole heart, and I encourage you to support this local business. If you have never tried fresh raw milk, then you are in for a treat.  It's amazingly wonderful.  It's no wonder people drank fresh raw milk for thousands of years!

This local family-owned company implements many sustainable farming methods.  They allow their livestock to free range.  The animals are fed only organic grains and local hay.  The farm incorporates a rotation schedule that allows the pasture to regrow quickly.  If you subscribe to Joel Salatin's natural farming ways, then you'll recognize these methods.

I hope you will try Gramen Farm. I am just so happy to have found this farm and their great products.

If you don't live close enough to buy from Gramen Farm, then I encourage you to find other local businesses in your area that provide wholesome products.  If we all support local businesses, there will be more of them!
