Downsizing the house

As part of the downsizing I mentioned earlier this week, time for downsizing, we've decided to sell our house in NW Houston. It has been a good home, but with just two of us, we don't use all the rooms. God willing, we will sell the house and move into something smaller.

While I applaud the tiny house movement, I am not sure if I am ready for something that small. However, I do buy into the Not-so-Big House ideas. Quality over Quantity. That's the theme we keep coming back to over and over.

It's the same concept that we employed in the construction of our cabin in the Hill Country - a house well built will need less maintenance, less energy to run, and waste less materials. We want something with quality windows, lots of insulation, good ventilation, and correct sun orientation.

In a sense, you could say that we are putting theory to real life. We've done this in many other areas of our life, now for the big one - can we live and be happy in a smaller house? Why not? Remember this post from 2 years ago? is comfort sustainable?. I think the answer is yes.

  1. Hi Tammy! Thanks so much for coming on as a follower to my blog. I now of course will be checking back on you. As far as downsizing to a smaller life...YES! Do it. We are too.

  2. Sounds like a great plan, Tammy! I appreciate smaller spaces, too. Good luck on your next adventure. :)
